Booked Jobs
The Detailer Rev shop manual for answering faster, selling one clear offer, filming ads from your real work, and filling a calendar that actually pays.
you don't need more leads. you need a bucket without holes ↓Straight up: this is a framework, not a forecast. Your market, pricing, work, and how fast you pick up the phone decide your results. Calculator numbers are examples to change, not promises.
The Leak
You don't have a lead problem. You have a hole in the bucket.
Here's how it goes. You're elbow deep in an interior. Phone buzzes. You'll call back after this car. After this car turns into after lunch, after lunch turns into tonight. By then they've texted two other detailers, and one of them answered.
That's the leak. It isn't your ads, your price, or your work. It's the gap between when someone raises their hand and when you actually talk to them.
- Missed calls that never get a text back
- Form leads that sit until the end of the day
- Quotes sent once and never followed up
- Old customers who never hear from you after the first job
Not the best detailer. Not the cheapest. The first one to answer.
What's leaking out of your bucket?
Example math: leads reached in 5 minutes book at about 30%, slower ones at about 10%. Your real rates will differ. The point is the gap.
The Offer
Your ad can't sell your whole price list. It sells one thing, really well.
Most detailers run ads with the full menu: basic, premium, ultimate, interior only, exterior only, plus nine add-ons. The customer sees all that and does nothing. Too many choices feel like homework.
Pick one hero offer for your ads. The thing you're best at, that pays well, that people in your city actually want. Everything else gets sold on the phone or at the car.
Four parts of a hero offer
- A clear result. "Interior that looks and smells new" beats "Interior Package B."
- A real price. Show it, or a starting price. Hiding it makes people assume it's high and leave.
- A reason to book now. Real limited spots, a season, a weather window. Never a fake countdown.
- What comes with it. Pet hair, stains, odor, the photos when you're done. The extras that make the price make sense.
"Full detail packages starting at $99! Call now for best prices in town!"
"Your interior back to new, done in your driveway. Pet hair, stains, and odor included. $249. 6 spots open this week."
If your ad says $99, you get $99 customers: the ones who haggle, no-show, and leave the second someone says $89. A fair price with proof behind it brings people who care about their car. Fewer of them, worth way more.
Cheap gets clicks. Clear gets bookings.
The Ad
Stock footage looks like every other ad in the feed. Your real jobs don't.
You already have the best ad content in your city: the cars you work on every day. People want a real car, real dirt, real hands, and a real person. You just have to film it on purpose.
First 3 seconds. The worst part of the car, up close. Dog hair in the seat crease, a coffee stain, swirls in the sun. That's what stops the scroll. Vertical, close, good light. No intro, no logo first.
5 to 15 seconds of satisfying work. Extractor pulling dirty water, a brush in the vents, foam on paint, a pad on a swirled panel. Short clips, fast cuts. People love watching dirt leave.
The after, then you. A slow walkaround, then 5 seconds of you on camera: who you are, where you serve, how to book. Your face is the one part nobody else can copy.
Hooks you can use today steal these
- Shoot vertical (9:16). Wipe your lens on your shirt first.
- Film the before before you touch anything. You can't go back.
- Grab 60 to 90 seconds of raw clips per job. You'll use 15.
- Film 2 or 3 jobs a week. That's fresh ads every week.
- Say your city out loud. Local beats pretty.
The 5-Minute System
This is what plugs the leak. Every lead answered in minutes, even when you're under a car.
Keep it human. Four automations, not forty.
The Calendar
Busy and profitable aren't the same thing. Here's how to get both.
Stop driving across town
If you're mobile, zigzagging between jobs eats your day. Pick zones. North side Tuesdays, south side Thursdays. When someone books, offer the day you're already near them. Same work, way less gas and time.
Deposits on big jobs
Correction or coating on the calendar? A deposit holds the spot. Serious customers don't mind, and it filters out the ones who were never going to show.
Bring old customers back
Past customers are the cheapest jobs you'll ever book. They already trust you. Most detailers never text them again.
- Text everyone 60 to 90 days after their last detail
- Offer a maintenance plan: set price, on the calendar, every month or two
- Ask happy customers for a referral, and thank them when one books
| Source | What it does | Cost |
|---|---|---|
| Ads | New customers who've never heard of you | Highest |
| Google reviews | "Detailer near me" searches pick you | Free, slow |
| Past customers | Repeat jobs and maintenance plans | Almost free |
| Referrals | Friends who already trust you | Free |
If almost all your jobs come from ads, you're renting your business. Ads bring them in. The other three keep them.
Scorecard
Be honest. Nobody's watching.
